Each year at the start of National Model Railroad Month, "Miami Valley" Division 3, MCR, of the National Model Railroad Association sponsors the Dayton Train Show. The 2014 Dayton Train Show had close to 5000 attendance and over 500 vendor tables. Now we turn to the 2015 Dayton Train Show, our 40th show!
There will be new and pre-owned locomotives, rolling stock, and structures in every scale from "G", "O", "S", "HO", "N", "Z", and some for "T" gauges. You will be able to find those small hobby tools you need, scenery making supplies, books on your favorite railroad. If you need it for your model railroad, it should be there.
We have one of the largest number of model railroad displays in the Midwest. with over 30 displays/exhibits. Model railroads will be operating in "G", "O", "S", "HO", "HOn3", "Z", "N" and the newest "T" ("T"iny). Railroad historical societies will be offering info about your favorite railroads of the past and present.
The Dayton Train Show occupies both the East Exhibit Hall and the Ball Arena of the Hara Arena facility, totaling over 59,000 square feet of show space. Plenty of free parking is adjacent to the building. In addition, the Food Court will be open. A map and directions are available HERE. All areas are handicap accessible.
The show floor is brightly lit and laid out with double-wide aisles to make it possible to browse and shop without crowding. Access to vendors is easy, even at the busiest times of the day. Our vendors come from all over the eastern and midwest US to make a wide variety of merchandise available, including model and toy trains, railroad memorabilia, parts and tools, custom modeling services (painting, decals, structures, etc.), and custom layout design.
Layouts, Clinics & Demonstrations
The Ball Arena always features a large number of operating layouts in a wide variety of scales, from the tiniest "T" scale to the glorious large-scale ("G" scale) garden layouts, and even bigger. A number of groups from around the country combine to build a huge N-Trak modular layout. There will be demonstrations by some of the best modelers in the nation including hands-on experience by local modelers, who will be available for questions and advice. There is something for everyone. Layout photographs from our show appear on many model railroad websites.
Boy Scout Merit Badge Class
A Boy Scouts of America Railroading Merit Badge Class is conducted each day of the show. The class is sponsored by Division 3, supported by show vendors and exhibitors, and is offered at no cost to the Boy Scouts. Reservations are required in advance. Watch this site for registration information, which should be available in late summer or early fall of 2015. NOTE: The Boy Scout Merit Badge information is coming soon.
